FPA -LA August Event

As of the Fall 2016, CSUN will have a local student chapter in association with the local FPA. On August 25th, the FPA is hosting an annual tech symposium in LA. This is a great opportunity to meet people from the industry, network, and participate in a conference focused on financial planning technology. If you are looking for internships and jobs, this is a great place to meet lots of local financial planners.  If you are currently working, consider asking your employer for the day off for continuing education hours and new knowledge.

The regular student price is $45 for the entire day but the FPA will offer CSUN students a $15 discount.  You will have to register for the event at least 72 hours in advance. If you are planning to attend, type in “CSUN” in the comments section and  the FPA will add the discount when we process it on the back end. This price includes breakfast, lunch and a hosted happy hour after the expo. You can attend as much of the event as you can.

Here is the link for the speakers, schedule and registration. If you have any questions, please email me at inga.chira@csun.edu

CSUN Students take 3rd Place at IARFC Competition

Cole Brownell and Anthony Pelaez from California State University Northridge placed 3rd in the finals of the national IARFC competition.

“The IARFC feels the National Financial Plan Competition helps the student experience real world scenarios of the financial consultant. The National Financial Plan Competition was a two day event that featured industry relevant presentations. The scoring was extremely close this year as students were judged by Registered Financial Consultants (RFC®) – members of the IARFC.”
